When to Refill Edible Ink Cartridges

The white boxes are the baffles inside the cartridge, and act as create indicators of when you should refill the cartridge. Don’t forget that edible ink cartridges are only good for three refills or one year after their first use! After this, performance will decline, and the risk of contamination goes up.

Now when exactly do I refill? 🤷‍♂️

To ensure seamless operation and consistent quality when using edible ink cartridges for decorating confections, it is crucial to refill the cartridge before it runs completely dry. As a general rule of thumb, aim to refill the cartridge when it reaches around 25% capacity or as soon as you notice the prints becoming faint or streaky. Waiting too long to refill the cartridge can lead to air getting trapped in the print head, potentially causing clogs and affecting the quality of your designs.

Don’t trust the ink level indicator on the printer, either! This is only an estimate, and is often wrong. You should be proactive by visually checking the ink levels and refilling in a timely manner. This helps ensure you maintain a steady workflow and achieve professional-looking edible creations every time.
